Who could dispute that animals can have a positive effect on emotional well-being? With research being conducted into the field of alternative medicine on an on-going basis, more and more people are beginning to realize the cathartic effects that animals are having on individuals well-being, especially so in those patients suffering with depression.

While some people recover from depression using medications alone, there are many others, who would prefer to use a combination of alternative therapies to try to alleviate the symptoms of depression. One of these treatments being studied is ‘Pet Therapy’, but what is this alternative and how could it help?

Many scientists have spent endless hours looking into the different types of therapy available for treating depression as an illness; ‘Pet Therapy’ has been concluded as one of these therapies. Animals have long been recognized as being a positive force in the healing process.

Dogs notably have a calming and therapeutic effect on people. They can help individuals to cope with the emotional issues related to their illness. They also offer physical contact with another living creature and help to divert a person's attention from their pressing daily problems. Owning a dog brings about a sense of responsibility. Dogs rely on their owners for feeding, walking, attention and love. What better excuse for a depressed person to get out of bed in the morning?

Dogs love almost everyone without any degree of prejudice or rejection. You do not need to speak any type of language to communicate with a four-legged friend. Give them a treat, tickle their tummy and they will love you without bounds. Dogs are aware of illness and sadness and genuinely want to provide companionship and comfort; they show an abundance of intelligence and are both intuitive and compassionate. Any dog owner will relate and agree with me when I say that it is a warm feeling when their dog can detect their sorrow and lick their tears away.

Pet Therapy can facilitate many positive changes one such example being increased socialization skills. Animals can be used as part of group therapy programs to encourage communication and increase the ability to focus. Helping to develop a person’s self-esteem and reducing their loneliness and anxiety are just some potential benefits of individual-animal therapy.

The bond between humans and animals is demonstrated every day in millions of homes around the world. It is also becoming a powerful, common mode of therapy in many facilities such as hospitals, schools and residential homes.

While it is difficult to measure and quantify the benefits of dog therapy with hard scientific fact, there is no question that the magical interaction possible between animal and human is unmistakable. Tears can be dried. Scowls transform into smiles. Silence is broken and lastly but not least importantly loneliness and isolation can be ejected from a person through mere touch and cuddles. Dogs offer their owner’s absolute and unconditional love and a level of boundless patience that no human could ever possibly give. The love of a dog is unlimited, what better form of alternative therapy could there be?

When you fear to face the world, undoubtedly you are depressed. Depression is a growing problem. In last 50-60 years. Its rate has gone much higher. The average age, of people going under depression first, has decreased now; back it was 30s, but data say these days it has gone down under 20. It is because teen age is the most suffering age. United State is the highest rating depressed country. No doubt, it's just because of fast and restless lifestyle, which is now unstoppable. Although there are several tips and ways are told to the people to avoid depression, which are very useful and many people are benefited by them; still some of people fall in it due to any reason. What, they should do, is here:

-- If you have come under depression, first you should honestly try to recognize the main cause of what you are suffering from. Get your real condition and then contact to any counselor or health care provider. If a child or teenager is suffering; his or her parents should keep their duty. Parents must understand the problem and console him; if it needs, bring him to the doctor.

-- When you are with your counselor; you should completely co-operate him. Let him know your exact mental condition, what occurred with you. Also if you are taking any medication, which causes it, do mention it. -- If any accident is the cause of depression, you should never go to that place or try to avoid recalling that memory. I know, it's not so easy, but what's the harm in trying. You can make yourself busy in order to do it.

-- Whether, it is an official problem or any other; you should have a long leave and go on vacation at any peaceful place. When you come back; more probably, you will be out of depression and with new energy.

-- You should meditate for some time. Not only is it good for those, who are depressed, but also for the normal people. It helps them to avoid.

These are some great tips for the people, who are finding them in deep trouble. But these are supposed to be followed by the patient's family members more, because sufferers never want to disclose that they are having any this type of problem. Even sometimes they also don't come to realize their illness.

Manage Depression And Anxiety With Menopause

Right at the outset a misconception must be cleared out. In women going through amid life crisis, their approaching menopause is not the cause of all the mood swings and depressions that she undergoes. On the contrary, it is a fluctuation in quantities of estrogen secreted by the hormonal glands that causes such an emotional overhaul. This can be a difficult time for a woman. And this fluctuation of the hormone levels occurs more in women than in men, and therefore women may face twice as many emotional problems as men would. In case one has a family history of such a condition, the levels of depression may also depend on that.

Another misconception that comes with the onset of menopause is that depression is a normal thing during these phases. Yes, it is normal, but it need not necessarily occur. The depression levels can be easily controlled if one accepts the various alterations that are happening within the human body. Menopause or the dropping of the estrogen levels does not directly cause mood swings or depression. On the contrary, it is the inability to cope up with such changes that leads to such a mental condition.

Some of the symptoms to look out during the menopause are:

* anxiety
* irritability
* changes in body temperature
* sleeping problems
* tiredness due to weakening of bones
* mental fatigue
* forgetfulness

However, all of the above are just the resultant manifestations of the actually menopausal onset. Once a woman enters her mid thirties to mid forties the ovaries produced by the womb decrease considerably. Ovulation becomes erratic as a result of which the monthly menstrual cycle also fluctuates from the normal time period.

Many women who undergo severe depression during this time do so because they are unable to understand the changes within their body. The body had been used to a particular pattern for about 25 to 30 years of a woman's life. Now suddenly the disruption of such a routine pattern may result in anxiety. This inevitably leads to a feeling of hopelessness of approaching old age. This is what leads to depression.

Even though a positive mental outlook and taking the changes in one's stride can go a long way in countering such a condition, medical help must be sought in case the problem persists or aggravates. Problems related to the heart and bones are most commonly prevalent during menopause. The prescription of anti depressants by doctors and the undergoing of the hormone replacement therapies are the two most common approaches taken to cure such symptoms.

Breathe A Little

What to do if you are depressed? Breathe. If you can accept that your depression has deep personal meaning, if you can accept the experience in which you find yourself, and if you make the conscious decision to be alive, then the best therapy is to consciously breathe. You don't need any fancy breathing techniques. Just breathe more deeply than you are right now. Breathing helps move the heaviness of depression. Breathe with intention to fill up with life. You already know that depression does not hold much light, not much energy. Breathing will arouse energy. You can't just wait for energy to flow into you. You must decide to choose life, breath, and energy. If you can, get up and go for a walk outside. Get some fresh air and sunshine. Breathe. If you just arouse a little bit of energy, it will help you to generate a bit more energy, and that uplifts you and gets you moving out of the depression.

Depression involves the very real emotional despair of living day to day with real hopelessness. There is no one right way through depression. Your life is very important, including those times when you are in transition or depressed. Use the ideas above to help support yourself as you choose to bring new meaning into you life.

Depression and Daily Life

Posted by DimO

How can you continue living with depression and all the obligations of your daily life? You must treat your psychological problem. Despite much you suffer and why, you can overcome depression, even if you are a victim of terror.

You can learn how to forgive your enemies forever, how to do everything you need, how to develop your personality and many more things, only by analyzing your own dreams. They provide you with information about your psyche because its activity defines your behavior and prepares your future.

You have to start with resistance because you simply have to continue, regardless of how you feel. This is something you must understand: you must continue your journey.

Think that you are not the only one in this world who suffers. This is how you have to start. Everybody in this world is depressed and nobody wants to work or do anything else, but life goes on. You have to do the same.

However, you cannot simply accept life by pushing yourself to continue. You have to be cured!

In order to be cured you need the following:

1- Courage and an incentive to continue.
You can find what you need in the wisdom of mankind and mainly in that of religious teachings of all religions. The wise unconscious that produces dreams will give you many incentives to continue and you'll achieve strength by following its directions. The unconscious wisdom is saintly and perfect.

2- Resistance
Even if you feel like abandoning everything and everyone, stand up and go ahead. This is not going to last forever. You will feel better if you resist!

3- Faith
You must believe that you will feel better and that there is a superior spirit that can help you become superior as well. All the suffering through which you are passing now transforms your soul. Life has no meaning without suffering, because wisdom comes from comprehension and comprehension, from sensitivity. Only suffering can convert the indifferent human being into a sensitive creature that will love peace and stop causing wars.

If you suffer today it is because you are learning. Tomorrow, you'll feel better and the next day, you'll be a teacher who teaches the world and the new generations many things.

Your suffering is not eternal and as soon as you learn what you needed to, you will feel happy again, even though you don't believe it is possible. You can believe that there is a superior being able to do the most impossible miracles because this is true: there are already many scientific proofs of God's existence.
